Biography

Cat Dawson works at the intersection of the history of art, and gender and sexuality studies. Their research explores the relationship between culture, technology, and the body in art by minoritized artists in modern and contemporary art. Their first book, Monumental: How a New Generation of Artists is Shaping the Memorial Landscape, is forthcoming from The MIT Press in Fall 2025. Their second book, Trans Form, has also been solicited by MIT for the series On Seeing.
